Shellac manicure by creative vs. No chip by OPI
I have had some clients who haven’t been able to get in for there shellac and they have gone elsewhere. I would like to address this with first please ask to go on a wait list or if you. An at least do a polish change.
If you end up elsewhere do not be fooled. There is a difference. The no chip takes longer to take off and is harder on the nails. Also, be sure they do not do gels on you. This is definitely not the same and needs to be filed off.
Although the majority of the clients that have done the shellac have done well, unfortunately there are a few that have experienced more dryness with their nails. We recommend that you be sure to use your solar oil everyday.
I know I do this service cheaper then most places, but I want everyone to be able to afford having great nails for almost two weeks.
It’s been too long!
It’s been too long since I’ve blogged, and I think it is time to do it again. I found out first of all some people actually read my previous blogging.
I was trying to hard to talk about specific things, that made it hard. I think it needs to be just a stream of thought.
In some ways I can’t believe 2010 isn’t almost over, so much of it seemed to have past so fast.
I still haven’t found my miracle cure for acne. But I haven’t given up!
I am very excited about our new product Cell Youth Actif. Everyone is looking younger and healthier. Pigmentation, overall coloring and texture and jowls seem to be disappearing. Truly amazing.
The importants of facials and products
Why get a facial? The answer for this not the same for everyone, nor is every facial the same. Some facials are just fluff and buff, some facials are extremely clinical, and some are a combination. All esthetician and all facials are not the sam
e. The so how do you decide, first what are your concerns? If you want to just relax a fluff and buff, if you care about your skin looking better, then the combination or clinical. Let me give you my opinion….a facial should be both. Stress is the number one ager, and one of the top triggers for rosacea and acne. I feel getting the relaxing part is going to add to the overall result of the facial.
Let’s talk about product, how important are they. In the facial room very. If you could use the products in the way the use in the facial room then whyb do you need the facial? Or if the products are so fabulous to the esthtician she should be recommending things to compliment the treatment at home. I like how an esthetican I know described it once, the treatment then continues to the next treatment. If you have concerns about your skin when you go in for a facial, and you and the esthetician think that doing one treatment and going home and using the same products you were is going to help, then you probably think you can excercise and diet one day amonth and that will work.
Sometimes what people are using is okay, there aren’t a lot of issues going on, and the client really doesn’t have any concerns. These people, yes I might not suggest a product I sell over something they get at the grocery store. But just like your facials and estheticians, all products are not created equal and just because they cost more doesn’t mean they do more.
Through the years I have worked with a lot of different types of products from drugstore, to department store to salon. They use to tell us drugstore were about 5% action ingredients, department store 10 to 15 and salon 15 to 20, and doctors offices 20 to 25. Not true some doctor offices are no better then salons, some salons and doctorsb office’s are no better then drug stores. How do really know, it. It’s not always easy.
But here I s some things to think about, how fancy ıs the packaging, how much marketing, ( magazine and television) and cost. Do you know a glass bottle for some products can cost $6?
Don’t think the packaging makes the product, and don’t under estimate the product because of packaging.
Make sure your esthetician attends classes regularly, and that she understands the ingredients and what they do. A facial should have results, be relaxing, and come with recommendations. The three R’s of facials.
Working on some theories
I have been working on some new mixtures for some oatmeal masks. So far so good, anyone wanting to tests some they will be ready in a few weeks. I also have been working on something for acne. I will be needing have some testers for that, let me know if your interested. I’ve been noticing some direct connection to people with bad scaly feet with high cholestrol. I know it sounds weird, but it all started with a client who’s feet got better when she went on niacin. I’m hoping to get a cardiologist and pedatrist to work on this with me.
Sunday Aug 8
Title is boring, but I go to blog and having to come up with a title throws me into a block.
Things have been busier lately thanks to the shellac manicure. Still need to make more money but its nice having people around talking to each other. What makes the shellac manicure so hot? Well, besides it last for almost 2 weeks, you’re dry when you leave, peoples nails are also growing and getting stronger.
We have had some sad things happen and some fun things happen. One of my clients 9 month old grandson died. Although he would never develope I feel so sad for them. So please keep them in your prayers.
Mark and I have decided to take some time to enjoy summer so my research has slowed down, I need I new burst of thought process on where to go with the research. In the mean time we are exploring the area and restuarants. Tomorrow we will check on some of the triple d locations.
I’ve decided if I just blog things I will get more relaxed with it so every day fun stuff will start to show up and be a lot more fun to read. So when days like MJ talking about her blinds dates you will be able to share in the fun. On days when we have a great skincare success you will be there with us.
But I guess for now since it is 11:15am I should get dressed and start the day. But hey great success for the day so far….I figured out how to get on the fan page for the shop from my phone.
The next technology challenge, get my clear network set up and get rid of all the broadband cards. As far as skincare figure out what Jess can do in africa for her skin.
Oh it’s Monday
Back to reality today. Saturday was washed out literally. Flooding in the area was bad. We were very lucky, my landlords were not. Every building but ours got it bad. I’m thankful to God. A loss in business doesn’t compare in cost to having the expenses if we had suffered damaged.
We are starting to see some appointments of new people for the shellac manicure so hopefully some will turn into facial clients.
Constant Inflammation and Instant Calm
Every second of every day our bodies are constantly being hit with inflammation. Inflammation often doesn’t become visible until it’s too late. This inflammation can be caused by stress, diet (good and bad), and too much or too little activity. Oxidative attacks on our skin, immune systems, and entire body are constantly occuring.
Often the worst causes, like stress and overactive lifestyles, can prevent us from taking care of ourselves and our skin when we need it most.
Some simple and easy advice:
–Drink 1-2e glasses of green tea daily. Better option? Stop in to Clarice’s for some of our super fruit green tea extracts. Super easy!
–Do stretches throughout the day to release stress in your body and to keep the energy moving.
–For your face, use Instant Calm Ultra. It stops the inflammation cascade 96% of the time due in part to sea whip.
My new favorite combination is Post Peel lotion and Instant Calm Ultra. My skin hasn’t felt this firm in a while!
Bikini waxes
Last night I did a young girls first bikini wax. She was so nervous she brought her sister and friend with. We all laughed the entire time she was so funny. I hope it was a good experience for her. Her older sister who whimped out and had shaved, said she was going to do it next time. She decided it would be okay after all.
I was glad the Mom sent them in. I wish all mom’s would send their teens in. It makes so much more sense for the bikini area and underarms to be waxed from the start, and never shaved. By the time they are in their 30′s they wouldn’t have to worry about it.
A good note was they came in because they see me in the parade every year. Yeah!
To exfoliate or not?
It occurred to me this morning that the use of exfoliants / scrubs I’m not sure is understood. Our layers of cells should turnover approximatly every 28 days. As we get older the longer that takes.
AHA’s, peels, enzymes, and scrubs are all different ways to exfoliate and speed up the process of sloughing of layers of the stratum corneum. How often and how much is controversial. A scrub, whether it says daily or not should only be used 1-2x weekly. Don’t forget your body when you exfoliate. More then that can be over kill and actually cause the problems you are trying to get rid of. It can damage your moisture barrier and cause flakey, dehydrated skin. It can also cause your skin to be more sensitive. So remember in skincare there is such a thing as to much of a good thing.
More on the subject of peels later!!
My passion for esthetics
Let me start off with introducing myself. My name is Clarice, owner and sole technician of Clarice’s Creating Beautiful Looks located in Wheaton, On July 18,2010 I will celebrate the shop’s 21st anniversary. It’s been a wonderful adventure in life. I’ve learned so much. Not just about skincare, but also about people and life. So many wonderful people have passed through more doors, some still do and some have been wonderful memories or lessons. Those of you that will find my blog, and follow must remember, I will write like I talk. Often a stream of thoughts.
Why you might ask did I decide to do a blog? The idea first came to me after seeing the movie ” Julia and Julie”. But as time goes on I couldn,t think of a better way to let more people know how passionate I am about helping them with their skin.
What most people don’t know about me is that I also teach in the industry. I educate other estheticians about the skin and how to help their clients. I love doing the classes. It not only is exciting, but it keeps me on top of my game.
I wonder if more people in the community knew that, if I would be busier with facials. Hopefully with the. Blog the word will get out.
Presently my quest are to learn more about the way skin is afected by illnesses and from medications. The other is to find the perfect acne solution for teens. So for now I am off to do some research.
